West Oakland Kwanzaa Toy Giveaway

Beth  Eden Baptist Church, Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority and Omega Psi Fraternity held their 10th Annual Toy and Kwanzaa Giveaway, handing out 1,500 gifts to children in the West Oakland community.
The event, held Dec. 27 at Cole Elementary School, was open to the public and celebrated the true meaning of Christmas, while also promoting Kwanzaa, an African-American tradition.
“We want to reach all cultures and ethnic backgrounds in the Lower Bottoms,’ said Brigitte Cook, Public Relations Chair.
The Omega Gents, which is connected to Omega Psi Fraternity, offers mentoring
services for young teens to help prepare them for college and the workforce. The Rhoer Club from the Sigmas reaches out to high school girls, offering leadership and mentoring designed to create relationships that last a lifetime.
