Yolanda Jones is the proprietor of Yolanda’s Construction Administration & Traffic Control, an African-American and woman-owned firm that provides support for public and private sector clients on engineering and construction projects.
The company’s staff has extensive experience in the transportation industry, including rail transit and highway and roadway projects and other heavy civil projects.  Team members are Caltrans-certified in construction management, inspection and testing for transportation projects.
Company experts have worked on large public infrastructure construction projects to support project administration, labor compliance, traffic control and community outreach.
The staff is familiar with local agency requirements and has provided support for a variety of Bay Area Projects including BART District Capital Improvements, the East Contra Costa BART Extension, the San Francisco Municipal Transit Authority (SFMTA) Muni Third Street Light Rail Extension Program and Caltrans Highway Expansion and Improvement projects.
Two years ago, Jones started her company with ambitions to improve the lives of people in underserved communities, such as the Bayview Hunters Point in San Francisco and Richmond.
“I opened my business with $200 in January 2010,” she said.
Two years later, Jones looks back at the challenges she and her family endured while living in the Bayview Hunters Point neighborhood. At that time, she was a struggling single parent relying on public aid and living in public housing.
Today, she celebrates the educational accomplishments of her children and her own personal triumphs, having successfully overcome domestic violence, the near-fatal shooting of her daughter, the death of a son and successful recuperation of a teen with Cerebral Palsy.
Through her perseverance, she strives to provide a living example of how anyone can overcome adversity and achieve success.
“My goal is to reach every Black person in every situation in life and encourage them to be productive in 2012,” she said.
Yolanda’s Construction Administration & Traffic Control is located at 280 Newhall St. in San Francisco. For information call (415)-647-2682.
