Charles Reid Gospel Festival Draws Over 4,000

By Kia Croom The First Lady of Gospel Pastor Shirley Caesar and the Legendary Rance Allen Group drew a crowd of over 4,000 to the Charles Reid Gospel Festival held Feb. 18 in the Richmond Memorial Auditorium. The show opened with the Rance Allen Group.   The  audiences responded by shouting praise and singing along with the group. – many rose to their feet, shouting and stomping in reverence to the Lord. While Pastor Shirley Caesar testified, professing deliverance and expressing words of hope for the future, a young woman in a wheelchair got up from her wheelchair and walked. “She was looking for a miracle!” shouted Pastor Caesar, who encouraged attendees to be faithful and trust and believe in the power of God to heal and deliver. The first annual Charles Reid Gospel Festival was held to commemorate Charles Roger Reid, a citizen who dedicated his life to building up young men and women in the community, particularly in the Richmond area.  His legacy continues through the Charles Reid Foundation, which received a portion of the proceeds from the event, along with the Mary Ann Wright Foundation.
