Marin residents Felicia Gaston and Alan Charmatz took 15 children on March 25 to the Marin Symphony Family Concert to a performance of “Green Eggs and Ham” & “Gertrude McFuzz,” two Dr. Seuss classics set to music by composer Rob Kapilow. At the concert Kapilow explained how he  composed the music, depicting the sound a certain action or object would make. He also said he had borrowed from other musical forms such as Broadway musicals. Maria Jette and Annie Kahane played characters in the two stories. Gertrude’s McFuzz assistant was played by Alexamder Ehrenberg. After the concert, the children were encouraged to try out an instrument at an “instrument petting zoo.” The Diversity Section of the Marin County Bar Association sponsored the event. Attorneys Jessica Karner, Teresa Carey, Pamela Bousquet and Alan Charmatz came to the concert. Bryna Holland, Beth Wissing-Healy and Meloni Gail Page sponsored some of the children. The Diversity Section seeks to promote access to the legal system to the entire community. The section also promotes philanthropy to vulnerable or underserved communities as well as providing mentorship to the youth of underserved communities. The organization, through group events such as the Family Concert, seeks to expose young people to activities they may not otherwise have a chance to attend.
