Friends of the Richmond Public Library and the Richmond Public Library are sponsoring a $1,000 scholarship to a West Contra Costa senior high public or private school student who will attend a four-year college in the fall. Interested applicants should provide a copy of a letter of intent/registration to the college they will attend, include the names of any service or social organizations in which they participated and give the names and amounts of other scholarships received. Applicants must also submit a three-page, double spaced, typed essay entitled, “Public Libraries in the New Millennium: Programs and Resources That Will Attract Teenagers.” Entries must be received by 5 p.m., Tuesday, May 4 at Richmond Public Library, 325 Civic Center Plaza, Richmond, CA 94804, Attn: Añgela Cox. Applications will be available in counseling offices at high schools in West County and online at www.richmondlibrary.org.
