For the first time in over a decade, the Richmond YouthWORKS program, a division of the Department of Employment and Training, will open a storefront office aimed at providing a youth friendly service center to assist young adults with their employment and academic needs. The building renovation  is overseen by Turner Group Construction, who has hired RichmondBUILD and YouthBUILD Richmond program graduates to build classroom space and upgrade the facility for the program’s use. The renovation is funded by the Richmond’s Capital Improvement Program as part of the city’s priority to reduce violence in the community by providing accessible services to at-risk and in-risk youth. “Turner Group Construction’s commitment to hiring, training and sponsoring our participants into the appropriate union in the Building Trades is magnificent,” said Employment & Training Executive Director Sal Vaca.
