Celebrating the release of its first recording, “Yes, Lord,” Inheritance Records will host a CD Listening Party featuring Pastor Patrice MucCular at 3 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 8 at the 57th Street Gallery, 5701 Telegraph Ave. in Oakland. Inheritance Records, founded in 2009 by musician Lawrence Hill, “shares Gospel artists with the world that traditional major labels would not give attention,” according to Hill. “When I realized how much the industry had changed and was no longer signing new artists, I decided that the only way to get a new project out was to create the Inheritance Records label,” he said. A recording vocalist with a track record spanning nearly 35 years, Hill has served as a staff writer for several record publishing companies including Sky Hill Publishing and Shelter Records/Capital Records. He also has been the featured vocalist, soloist, background singer, arranger and writer on recordings with many popular, gospel, Rock and R&B greats including The Edwin Hawkins Singer, New Generation Singers, Leon and Mary (McCreary) Russell, Charles May Ensemble, FAME Gospel Choir, James Cleveland, Ricky Grundy Choral, Patti LaBelle, Della Reese and the Up Choir. Hill has attained commercial success as a writer, vocalist and actor for the television shows, “Touched By an Angel,” and “Sister/Sister” and in the movies, “Eve’s Bayou,” “Caveman Valentine” and “The Doors.”  . The first artist to be released on the Inheritance Records label, Pastor Patrice MucCular, New Covenant Christian Church, Lodi, is an ordained elder, licensed missionary and impassioned evangelist.  Her unique vocal style netted her the debut release, according to Hill. “The lyrics are nurtured from Bible scripture and are a testament of faith, conviction and victory in the lives of Christians’ daily walk and relationship with God,” he said. “Pastor Patrice’s vocals are not about musical vocal riffs and hooks that never end, but an anointed favor that touches the soul.  The music presents an expression of healing, salvation and deliverance from the pains of life and the courage for new beginnings.” Pastor Patrice will appear on the “West Coast Raize the Praze in September  on the Legacy Network.
