Third Baptist’s “Stamping Out Obesity” Campaign

The Third Baptist Church is San Francisco is set to kick off its Stamping Out Obesity campaign, Saturday, Sept. 29 with a community Walk –A-Thon and Health Fair.  The mile-and-a-half walk will start at 9 a.m. at the Golden Gate Panhandle (Ashbury and Fell)and end at Third Baptist Church, 1399 McAllister St. where there will be a health Fair.  The fair will offer free health screenings, disease prevention, chronic disease management and Health Support Services. Professionals will be on hand to discuss topics including Causes and Effects of Obesity and Alzheimer’s and dementia. A free lunch will be provided. Third Baptist Church is celebrating its 160th anniversary. Founded as the First Colored Church of San Francisco in 1852, Third Baptist was the first and is now the oldest religious institution of African American origins in the Western United States.
