Oakland will celebrate World Music Day Sunday, Sept. 23., as part of the Sundays in the Redwoods concert series that will be held at the Woodminster Amphitheater at 3300 Joaquin Miller Road. Reggae band Third World headlines the show that also features performances by Rankin Scroo, Z’amico and Miko Marks. The Sundays in the Redwoods concert series will continue with Soul is the Key on Sept. 30 featuring performances by Marsha Ambrosius, Martin Luther and Linda Tillery and The Rhythm Section on Oct. 7 featuring Jeffrey Osbourne, Legends of Motown, Qui 510 and Maybe Tuesday. The series concludes with Talking all that Jazz on Sunday, Oct. 14 with performances by Boney James, Avery Sunshine, FH Band featuring Bill Ortiz and the Oakland School for the Arts. Patrons attending concerts at Sundays in the Redwoods are encouraged to bring a picnic to enjoy among the towering redwoods nestled in the Oakland hills.
