Emory Douglas, former Minister of Culture of the Black Panther Party, will speak at the Hannah Gallery, 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 19.
Douglas’s graphics, cartoons and woodcuts illustrated the Black Panther, the weekly newspaper published by the Black Panther Party from 1967 to the 1980s, when the Party disbanded.
Douglas’s illustrations were visually explosive and served as an inspiration for other revolutionary artists living in the 1960s and 1970s.
Hannah Gallery is located on 170 Donahue St. at the Gateway Shopping Center in Marin City. For information go to Hannahproject.org or call (415) 419-0615.
