By Kia Croom Smart Ladies Inc. is a non-profit agency committed to teaching girls between the ages of 11-18 to dream big and pursue their personal goals. The agency provides a wide gamut of services to girls including life skills training, and job readiness. “We have held two workshops so far on topics including self-love, real estate, resume writing and interviewing. We want the best for the up-and-coming generation and hope to reach young ladies all over the world,” said Faye Foster, founder of the organization. Foster encourages young women through a variety of activities, including pamper-me activities such as facials and by culturally enriching the students with Black history. Smart Ladies Inc. was founded in October 2012 by Faye Foster, a Bay Area native. She says she always wanted to find a way to empower the youth and teach them things that they do not learn in school. She credits her husband Felix and her two daughters with helping bring her vision into fruition. Kia Croom is a contributing writer for the Richmond Post.
