Oakland Black Caucus Feeds 500 for Christmas

I was hungry, and you gave me food: I was thirsty, and you gave me drink: I was a stranger, and you took me in: Matthew 25:35

Each holiday, the Oakland Black Caucus and the Oakland Post News Group host a feeding for the less fortunate at 410 14th St. The annual Christmas/Kwanzaa Feast and Toy Drive on Christmas Day this year fed between 400-500 individuals. Volunteers from all walks of life came to cook, clean, serve and share their blessings with the community’s ever growing needy population. The dining room was beautifully decorated and set with full place settings. Volunteers greeted guests with a smile, saying, “Thank you for the opportunity to serve you.” Head waiter Geoffrey Pete (bottom left), Black Caucus Chair was joined many elected officials, including Assemblyman-elect Rob Bonta (bottom right).Photos by Laura M.
