Khalil Adams, 12, is looking forward to attending the Leadership in Action Summit at Harvard University this summer through the People to People Ambassador Program.
Under the vision of former President Dwight D. Eisenhower, People to People gives students the opportunity to travel across the world, experience different cultures, and be a part of history. Through the leadership summit, Adams will join students from around the globe to experience college life at Harvard and learn about the college admissions process.
“I am inspired to challenge myself, pursue my dreams, and leave the world a better place than I found it,” the 4.0 student says.
As an advanced placement student at Valley View Middle School in Pleasant Hill, Adams is currently a teaching assistant for a Pre-Algebra class and has attended math programs each summer determined to keep his skills sharp.
He was nominated to participate in the People to People program by his science teacher based on his “demonstration of outstanding scholastic merit, leadership potential, and exemplary citizenship.”
Adams is looking for donations to help him raise funds by May 31 to attend the summer leadership summit at Harvard. His church, Bethel AME in San Francisco recently held a fundraiser to support his trip.
Non-deductible donations can be made payable to People to People Ambassador Programs. If interested in making a donation, contact Debra Wilkinson at (415) 377-9978 or email@example.com.
