POST TV: Senator Boxer Talks Affordable Care Act, Voting Rights Amendments

Senator Barbara Boxer (D-CA) made a visit to La Clínica de La Raza health center in Oakland this week advocating for the Affordable Care Act and educating the community on how this health reform will benefit families across the state.

The new plan will expand Medicaid/MediCal and families living 133 percent in poverty will be eligible to receive affordable healthcare. Right now, 7 million Californians are uninsured, the largest number of any state, and 400,000 young adults in California are insured through their parents health plan.

Senator Boxer says families and individuals who did not have access to affordable healthcare will be afforded that opportunity on Oct. 1 when the Affordable Care Act goes into effect.

Post reporter Ashley Chambers talks with Senator Boxer about the Affordable Care Act and her views on the recent decision in the Voting Rights Act.
