“Help A Brother Go To College Day” comes to De Anza High School

The college bound brotherhood agency, Young Scholars Program, will be hosting the 4th Annual Help A Brother Go To College Day Conference at De Anza High School on Sunday, Nov. 17 from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m.

The conference is for young and older men who are mentors and will also feature a financial aid workshop for the mothers of the young men.

The opening session of the event will feature talks by Dr. Thomas Parham, vice chancellor of UC Irvine; Dr. Walter Kimbrough, president of Dillard University; Dr. Kevin Rome, president of Lincoln University Missouri; and local entrepreneur and success coach Michael E. Parker, founder of You Are A CEO.

In addition, there will be a college fair with representatives from UC Berkeley, UC Davis, UC Irvine, UC Merced, University of Arkansas, Fayetteville, and seven HBCU.

Young men should bring at least 10 copies of their transcripts. Seniors will have time to complete and submit application, and some colleges will offer on-the-spot admissions and scholarships for qualified seniors.
