Stockton Prepares to Hire New City Manager

The City of Stockton is seeking a new city manager to replace Bob Dies, who has announced his retirement after serving for three years.

After reviewing 63 applications for the position, the Stockton City Council will interview two finalists on Saturday, Nov. 2. That same day, a candidate will receive a tentative offer if Mayor Anthony Silva makes a nomination, and it is supported by at least three council members.

A new city manager could be introduced at the City Council meeting on Nov. 12. However, if Silva does not make a nomination, the search process will continue.

“Hiring a qualified city manager that is the right fit for a community is perhaps the most important decision that a mayor and council can make,” Silva said.

Deputy City Manger Kurt Wilson has been appointed interim city manager until a new city manager is hired.
