Art Exhibit Explores “Themes of Black Identity”

The Delta Center for the Arts, LH Horton Gallery, at San Joaquin Delta College, 5151 Pacific Avenue, will host the art exhibit ‘Themes of Black Identity in America’ from Feb. 27 – March 21.

The exhibit recognizes artists whose art explores and depicts the identity, culture and history of African Americans. The exhibition will also accompanied by the performance of Tar Baby which stars Desiree Burch and the film screening of “Question Bridge: Black Males.”

Prior to the open exhibit on Friday, Feb. 21, artist Milton Bowens will present a guest lecture in the West Forum at Delta College at 4 p.m.

An opening reception for “Themes of Black Identity in America” will take place Feb. 27, 5 p.m.-7 p.m. at the gallery and will feature a special performance of Stockton’s “With Our Words” Youth Poetry
