Performing Stars is presenting a Women’s History Month Celebration where teenage girls will meet professional career women at a reception Saturday, March 22 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Registration begins at 10:30 a.m. The reception will be held at the Manzanita Recreation Center, 630 Drake Ave. in Marin City.
Young girls, from 6th to 12th grade, will come from all over Marin County, representing different schools, town, neighborhoods and ethnic and social-economic backgrounds. They will meet over 60 successful women from different professions, including community leaders, entertainers, TV personalities, adventurers, educators, entrepreneurs, foundation organizers, philanthropists, managers, CEOs, law enforcement officers and communications.
;Among those who will speak are Deborah Santana, philanthropist, Do A Little; Pam Moore, anchor, KRON-TV/Channel 4; Barbara Rodgers, host Comcast Newsmakers; Kate Sears, Marin County Board of Supervisors; Jennifer Tejada, chief, Sausalito Police Department; and Kathleen Harris, trustee, Blacks in Philanthropy.
Each girl will also be treated to a day of pampering, including facials, etiquette sessions, makeup tips and an individual photo shoot.
Admission is free to girls, all others $10 donation at the door. Do A Little and the Sato Foundation are sponsoring this event. EnLighten – Young Women Exploring Their Futures will also be presenting the reception.
Community Partners include Marin City Community Services District and Sausalito Recreation District.
Smart casual dress is requested.
