Vallejo School District Offers College Bound Scholarship

The Vallejo City Unified School District will partner with the City of Vallejo to administer the College Bound Vallejo Scholarship, providing 75 students with financial support to pursue higher education and reach their academic and career goals.

The students will receive up to $4,000 over a two year period. Part of the criteria for the scholarship requires recipients to perform 150 hours of community service in Vallejo. The service requirement aims to foster a desire to improve one’s community. College Bound Vallejo is a project selected by the residents of Vallejo through Participatory Budgeting.

To be eligible for the scholarship, students must be residents of Vallejo, demonstrate a financial need, and will receive a high school diploma by 2014. Students must also submit three essays of 250 words each.

Vallejo City Unified School District students can pick up an application at each of the participating high schools: Jesse Bethel, Vallejo, John Finney and Vallejo Educational Academy. All applications must be submitted by May 1, 2014.
