The Stockton Thunder, proud ECHL affiliate of the NHL’s New York Islanders, AHL’s Bridgeport Sound Tigers, and proud member of the Stockton community have donated $678,171 in cash, tickets and memorabilia to non-profit, civic and community groups during the 2013-14 season.
id=”yui_3_16_0_1_1401327353557_35200″ style=”color: #181818;”>Over $400,000 of this investment into the community can be traced back to the Thunder’s academic programs, “Be Cool Read” and “Academic All-Stars” presented by Edward T. Graham, D.D.S., along with “I am Here” and “Be A Winner” presented by Chase Chevrolet. There is no cost associated for the schools or students to participate in any or all of the school programs.
Throughout the 2013-14 season, the organization continued to host its hallmark cause-based marketing games including Thunder Goes Pink VIII, Hockey With Heart, Covanta Energy Easy Being Green weekend and Military Appreciation Weekend.
During those four events, a total of $32,082 was raised and donated to St. Joseph’s Foundation – Breast Health Services, the American Heart Association, United Cerebal Palsy Association of Stanislaus County and Welcome Home Heroes Foundation respectively.
