Young Oakland Track Stars Win Big at Junior Olympics

The relay team of girls 8-years old and under of the East Oakland Track Group (EOTG) competed in the West Coast Amateur Athletic Union Junior Olympics Track & Field Meet last weekend in Reno, Nevada. The young girls placed first in the 4×100 relay and earned a gold medal.

Legendary Track Coach Willie White established the team in 2010. White’s track history includes competing in the 1960 Olympic Trials where he placed 6th in the 100m dash. He is also the only coach to have won both a men’s and women’s Track and Field State Championship in the same year while coaching at Berkeley High School in the 1980’s.

This is a Great Track Story however there’s more to tell. Another Interview should be done with the Legendary Coach Willie White, once ranked 4th fastest sprinter in the world, Coaching the historic winning 1981 Berkeley High Yellow Jackets and the list goes on. He Continues to coach EOTG
