Chauncey Bailey Memorial Near White House












Oakland Post staff members Adam Turner and Carla Thomas visited the Chauncey Bailey Memorial Exhibit at the Newseum for journalism at 555 Pennsylvania Ave. NW, Washington,D.C. while on their way to cover the second inaugural of President Barack Obama.
Bailey, former editor of the Oakland Post, had interviewed Senator Obama before he announced his first presidential campaign, discussing his views on urban gun violence. Bailey was gunned in downtown Oakland in 2007 while investigating violence and sloppy police practices in Oakland. The photos above show Bailey’s computer, notes and other personal property.
