Local extent organizer Dante Toomer recently held “Daddy Day,” an afternoon of activities for fathers to share with their children.
The event, held on the afternoon of March 16 at Marina Park, took place in conjunction with a carnival sponsored by the City of Emeryville. Fathers and their children enjoyed the bounce house, petting zoo and face painting, as well as food and arts and crafts.
Toomer is well known in Bay Area as an event coordinator and emcee —a job he thoroughly enjoys, although he is  the first to admit his most fulfilling and meaningful job is being a father to his daughter Kennedy
“I want to show there are young Black fathers in their kids’ lives who want to set a positive example. The event is especially for those with daughters—we want to set the bar high and set an example of what a man is supposed to do.”
Toomer is anticipating Daddy Date #3, which will take place in April. He says he hopes to produce one event per month.
