Hands-On Health Express is a traveling project sponsored by California First Five that goes all over the state to promote living a healthy lifestyle starting at birth.
The fully equipped van travels around providing an interactive fair, which includes fun health education activities geared toward parents and children up to age five.
The Marin City Community Services District hosted the California Hands-On Health Express recently, at the Manzanita Recreation Center. The event attracted  groups of children from the Marin City area.
Children participated in interactive story time, active games, shopping in the healthy food stand, coloring their favorite veggies, and healthy snacks provided by First Five of Marin County.
Despite the chilly weather, event organizers and participants were thrilled with the success of the day. Ruth Nenaber, director of the Manzanita Child Development Center, said, “Good health and nutrition was deeply enhanced by the hands-on activities and games. The children loved participating and loved the goodies they got to bring home.”
Participating organizations included Cal Fresh, County of Marin Nutrition Wellness Program, and  Marin City Health and Wellness Center.
