Former San Francisco supervisor Willie B. Kennedy, 90, passed away Friday, June 28 after suffering a heart attack earlier in the week.Kennedy served on the San Francisco Board of Supervisors from 1981 to 1996. Since then, she has served as president of the Southeast Community Facility Commission.
Mayor Edwin M. Lee released a statement on Kennedy’s passing earlier this week.
“Willie B. Kennedy was a leader in our city who was committed to improving the community and creating opportunities for our city’s children, youth and families…,” he wrote. “We have lost a true friend and champion of our city. Her fortitude and her resolve changed San Francisco for the better. Our thoughts and prayers remain with her family and friends at this time of sorrow.”
