Nona Brown’s “Teachers Rock” Pays Homage to School Teachers

With more than thirty years in the gospel music industry and having gained national acclaim as a vocalist and composer, Bay Area native Nona Brown has seemingly done it all. She has performed with greats such as Patti Labelle, Bebe Winans, Donald Lawrence and Richard Smallwood. She has appeared on BET’S Bobby Jones Gospel TV Show and even performed at Oprah Winfrey’s Legends Ball.

Brown recently released a single, “Teacher’s Rock”, to pay homage to school teachers in all levels of education. Mixed with Brown’s smooth voice and a catchy beat, the song talks about the challenges teachers face everyday and how they continue to persevere through them in the name of education.

“Ever rising funding cuts make it extremely difficult for our teachers to perform their daily tasks,” Brown said. “However, it spite of it all they remain committed to keeping the best interest of our students as their focus, often using their own monies to keep the train moving.”

Ultimately, Brown believes that teachers are always apart of the equation and must be acknowledged for the work they do.

“Teachers Rock” is available on iTunes. A portion of the proceeds will benefit New Teacher Center and the Indelible Mark Foundation.
