GRIP Kicks Off “Countdown to End Hunger” Fundraiser

The Greater Richmond Interfaith Program (GRIP) has launched its First Annual Countdown to End Hunger in Richmond—a campaign to raise $20,000 in support of its emergency shelter and soup kitchen.

< p>The campaign began in November and will continue to Dec. 31. Some organizations, businesses and community members have made initial donations to kick-start the campaign. The East Bay Community Foundation (EBCF) pledged a one-to-one match on all contributions posted during the campaign.

“When EBCF pledged its support, I just wanted to jump out of my skin. GRIP’s Annual Campaign was on hiatus for a couple of years. To be able to roll out a new campaign with the support of a major contributor like EBCF means everything and makes our dollars go further,” said Kia Croom, GRIP Program Director.

GRIP is the leading provider of homeless services in Richmond. Programs and services benefit 15,000 residents of the city and surrounding West Contra Costa neighborhoods.
