Schools Raise Money for Typhoon Relief

This week, the Vallejo City Unified School District is conducting a campaign, “Change for Children,” to raise money for children in the Philippines, many of whom are related to Vallejo families and need additional resources to recover from the impact of Typhoon Haiyan.

Typhoon Haiyan, known as Typhoon Yolanda in the Philippines, was a powerful tropical cyclone that devastated portions of Southeast Asia in November.

Dr. Tony Ubalde, president of the school board, is leading the fundraising effort. One of the goals is deepen local students’ understanding and compassion and underscore the connection of the local community to the global community.

Funds will be collected in schools, offices and local businesses.
