Marin City Library Offers Programs on Farming and Brewing


The Marin City Library will offer two programs – one on urban farming and another on brewing beer at 164 Donahue St. in Marin City.

“Urban Pastoral: Farming & Food Justice in San Francisco,” will be presented on Saturday, March 1, from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m. Jason Mark, co-founder of San Francisco’s Alemany Farm and editor of Earth Island Journal, will present the program and talk about the promise and pitfalls of urban farming.

Markco-manages San Francisco’s largest food production site and writes frequently about agriculture and the environment. His writings have appeared in The Nation, The American Prospect, Gastronomica, and Salon, among other publications and websites.

“Home Brewing with Gilbert Guerrero,” will be presented Tuesday, March 18, from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. Learn about the history and chemistry of beer, how to brew from start to finish and how to beer in the kitchen.
