A new poll conducted by the Oakland-based EMC Research shows Assembly candidate Tony Thurmond ahead of Elizabeth Echols in the Assembly District 15 race.
Meanwhile, Oakland Civil Rights Attorney Pamela Price, one of the leading candidates in the June 3 primary, this week announced her endorsement of Thurmond.
Price, a former foster child who put herself thru Yale and went on to become a successful civil rights attorney, said: “The stakes are simply too high for the people in my district who are struggling to survive, which is why I’m putting my differences aside and endorsing Tony Thurmond in the November general election.”
“I’m supporting Tony because he has promised me that he’ll continue my fight to keep the only major trauma center – Doctors Medical Center – open for West Contra Costa County.”
Thurmond and Echols were the top two out of eight candidates running in the June 3 primary election in the district.
According to the poll, which surveyed 402 likely voters from June 25 to June 29, Thurmond leads Echols 26 percent to 25 percent, with 49 percent of the voters undecided..
