Thurmond Outraises Echols in Race for Assembly District 15


District 15 Assembly Candidate Tony Thurmond raised 30 percent more in campaign contributions during the last reporting period than his opponent, Elizabeth Echols, according to reports published by the Secretary of State.

District 15 covers parts of Oakland, Berkeley, Richmond, Albany, El Cerrito, El Sobrante, Emeryville, Hercules, Kensington, Piedmont, Pinole, and San Pablo.

Thurmond raised $100,471.59 between May 18 and June 30, compared to Echols’ $68,423.00.

who are uniting behind our campaign to get it right for California’s kids, families and seniors,” said Thurmond. “We see it on the street, at the doors, in our endorsements, in the polls and now in our fundraising.”

A recent poll conducted by Oakland-based EMC Research showed Thurmond leading Echols 26 percent to 25 percent.

Thurmond has been endorsed by Pamela Price, the candidate who came in third behind Thurmond and Echols in the June 3 primary election.

Thurmond also has backing of Congressman George Miller, Lt. Gov. Gavin Newsom, Attorney General Kamala Harris and State Senator Mark DeSaulnier, as well as the California Nurses Association, the California Teachers Association, California Legislative Black Caucus, California Professional Firefighters and the California Latino Legislative Caucus.
