Boor Takes Reins at Veteran Affairs Regional Office


The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) Oakland Regional Office hosted an Installation Ceremony for its new Director, Julianna M Boor, on Friday, Aug. 22.


The event took place at the Ronald V. Dellums Federal Building and was attended by employees of the Oakland Regional Office, Directors from local VA facilities and Federal Agencies, local Congressional Offices, County Veterans Service Organizations, Veterans Service Organizations, and members from the Alameda County Veterans Commission.

Boor stated she is “very proud and excited for the opportunity to be the director of the Oakland Regional Office” and “looks forward to working together with the Veteran community to make sure each Veteran who encounters the Oakland Regional Office feels like the VIP that they are.

Boor will oversee the Oakland Regional Office, which administers a full range of compensation, pension, and vocational rehabilitation benefits to veterans throughout the Northern California region. This includes administration of over $150 million monthly in Compensation and Pension benefits to 128,670 veterans and their dependents in Northern California.

Prior to her appointment, Boor served as assistant director of the Seattle VA Regional Office, where she led operations for the largest regional office in the Western Area.

This role included the oversight of a joint VA-DoD national mission. Seattle serves as the larger of two offices designated as a Disability Rating Activity Site (DRAS) for the joint VA-DoD Integrated Disability Evaluation System (IDES) program.

Boor began her career with the Department of Veterans Affairs in 1991 as an Adjudicator at the Indianapolis Regional Office. She subsequently held positions as a Senior Adjudicator, Rating Analyst, Rating Veterans Service Representative, Rating Board Coach, Area Management Analyst and Assistant Veterans Service Center Manager prior to becoming the Veterans Service Center Manager at the Pittsburgh Regional Office in 2011.
