The YWCA San Francisco + Marin is currently seeking nominations for women whose passion and hard work have had a significant impact in Marin County. Winners will be inducted at the 2015 Annual Marin Women’s Hall of Fame Induction and Dinner Celebration on March 26, 2015 at the Peacock Gap Event Center.
The Marin Women’s Hall of Fame was founded in 1987 to create a record of contributions women make to the life, culture and landscape of Marin County. Now 133 women strong and growing, the Marin Women’s Hall of Fame relies on Marin’s own to suggest potential inductees.
Considered a great honor to hold a place in Marin’s “Herstory”, criteria encourages a broad range of nominations which represent accomplishments in areas including but not limited to: the natural sciences; equity and justice; civil rights; health; education; animal welfare; ageism and the environment. Nominees must reside in Marin County and their contribution should reflect a unique contribution to the county, state, nation and/or beyond.
The YWCA San Francisco + Marin is dedicated to eliminating racism, empowering women and promoting peace, justice, freedom and dignity for all. It successfully accomplishes this through 6 core program areas: Affordable Housing; FiftyPlus Employment Support Program for Women; Racial Justice Community Conversations; Computer Learning Centers; English as a Second Language; and Marin Women’s Hall of Fame. Programs bridge generations, cultures and life skills with hope for the economically disadvantaged.
