KBLX and Budweiser will present the largest and most anticipated poetry show in the Bay Area, starring Khoree the Poet and featuring Rick Alexander and Dre Rivers of Verbal Sax on Nov. 8 at The Historic Bal Theater in San Leandro, which seats 750 people.
Corey Page, more commonly known as Khoree the Poet, has been performing spoken word poetry since 2010. He says he started performing at the Air Lounge’s “Hot Water Cornbread” Open Mic and has since grown to share the stage with high profile artists as Gladys Knight, Faith Evans, and the O’ Jays.
Most recently, he was offered a walk-on role in Tyler Perry’s “Hell Hath No Fury Like a Woman Scorned” at the Paramount Theatre.
“That was a surreal experience. It made me want to work harder than what I am doing now,” said Page, which is why he says his upcoming show is going to be “so much more than poetry show.”
Along with poets Joyce Lee, Candace Culpeper, 4 Family, and Audacious I Am, the show will also feature singers Niecey Robinson, Nicole Pearson (Buttah), and Chuck Lounge.
“It’s where poetry, jazz, and song mingle,” he added.
Tickets are $25 for general seating, and VIP tickets are $50. Khoree Private Circle tickets are $100 but offer another level of VIP seating, which also includes gift bags, autographed framed poem access to the after party, and private seating in the Budweiser Lounge.
Tickets can be purchased at www.KhoreeThePoetBalTheater.eventbrite.com. General Admission & After Party tickets can also be purchased at Imagine Affairs Art Lounge, 408 14th St.
