Fantasy Queens, a local chapter of the Red Hat Society, recently hosted their Annual All-White Luncheon at Pier 29 in Alameda to benefit a homeless women and children shelter in the city.

The Senior Steppers of Oakland strutted their moves to help raise money to help families adversely affected by the growing epidemic of homelessness.

“We are a group of women who want to give back to the community and lend a helping hand,” said member Charise Carter. “We love our sisterhood and work hard for a common goal.”

Initially started as a social organization for women age 50 and over, The Red Hat Society now attracts women in all age demographics through both the “Red Hat” (those over 50) and the “Pink Hat” designations (those under 50). The Red Hat Society has become the international society dedicated to reshaping the way women are viewed in today’s culture.
