The Bay Area Black Pilots Association hosted its annual holiday fundraiser banquet recently at Francesco’s Restaurant in Oakland.
Hosted by the pilot association’s President John Favors, the Dec. 13 event featured master of ceremonies LaRobb Lee and guest speakers pilot Ben Henderson Jr. and Associate Justice William J. Murray, Jr. of the Court of Appeals Third Appellate District.
Celebrating 41 years, the Black Pilots Association was founded in 1973 with a mission to increase public awareness of African American contributions to aviation and to promote career opportunities and train youth in the industry.
Pilots Forrest Cash Copeland and Steve Senegal were honored for their consistent wins in the Reno Air Race Champion From 2007 through 2012, they were first place winners, second place in 2013 and first place again in 2014.
