At this time of year, not everyone has the chance to experience the joy of the holidays. One young lady is trying to bring what joy she can. Mariah Dumas – at 15 years of age – has learned a lesson many of us need to remember.
The lesson is that each of us can make the life of someone else a little brighter. She has been collecting toys to give to children who may not get a chance to know the happiness she has been able to enjoy during this time of year.
She and her mother have distributed food to the homeless where she saw children in those lines. Mariah wanted to do something to raise the spirits of children who are without a home because of economics or problems within the homes they had.
Mariah is distributing what toys she has collected to children housed at the Bay Area Rescue Mission’s Family Center at 224 Macdonald Ave. in Richmond.
There are other Bay Area Rescue Mission Family Centers with children who are in need of smiles. It is not too late to see that happen.
