Congressmembers Barbara Lee, Eric Swalwell and Mike Honda will host a free education and enrollment event workshop Saturday, Feb. 7, to help small business owners and employees understand the Affordable Care Act and learn about the health insurance options that are available to them through the new law.
The event will take place from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at California State University East Bay, South Science Building, Room 105, 25800 Carlos Bee Blvd. in Hayward. Healthcare providers, healthcare enrollment counselors, insurance brokers and other health insurance experts will be available to answer questions and concerns from the attendees on how best to comply with the federal Affordable Care Act.
Participants will be able to enroll in a health plan on-site. The workshop is co-sponsored by the California Endowment, California Asian Chamber of Commerce, California Hispanic Chambers of Commerce, Health Law Guide for Business, Tri-Valley Progressives, and Small Business Majority. The Affordable Care Act requires that most lawfully present U.S. residents have health insurance whether through their job, a private plan or a government program.
