The Oakland Workforce Investment Board and a consortium of four adult employment-training providers in Oakland – the Oakland Private Industry Council, Lao Family Community Development, the Unity Council, and the English Center – have been awarded a grant to assist workers recently laid off from local jobs to successfully re-enter the workplace.

The Oakland Workforce Development Network is hosting a Job Fair on February 24 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the West Oakland Library, 1801 Adeline St. in Oakland. Featured employers include: UPS, West Coast Sand and Gravel, AutoZone, Bay Area Caregiver, Nestle Company, Balance Staffing and others.

Attendance at the job fair is restricted to those eligible to collect unemployment and who have been recently laid off from employment. Oakland residents are invited to attend and to bring their resumes, identification, and social security cards (or other right to work documents).

For more information, contact Cheryl Maier, Oakland Private Industry Council Business Services Manager, at (510) 768-4431.
