The Salvation Army-Del Oro Division honored two local volunteers at the annual Breakfast of Champions held on Thursday, April 23 at the Marin County Golf Club in Novato.
Dr. Virginia Edwards, a resident of San Rafael, received the Champion Award. Edwards has volunteered with the Salvation Army since 1999, having logged in 6,240 hours.
Isabella Joyce Cavallero, a Novato resident who has volunteered since the age of 5, received the Youth Champion Award.
The Salvation Army San Rafael Corps Community Center proudly serves Marin County, offering some programs including church services, Christmas giving and other social services.
The Salvation Army serves 3,000 families a year with food and utility assistance, and assists 500 individuals with food each month. They distribute 3,500 Christmas toys to needy children each year. Their programs also offer opportunities for children to attend summer camps and take music classes.
