Rev. Dr. Valerie Miles Tribble, Assistant Professor of Ministerial Leadership and Practical Theology at American Baptist Seminary of the West (ABSW) Graduate Theological Union in Berkeley, has trained hundreds of nonprofit leaders in the skills needed to survive and thrive in the face of challenges.
Dr. Tribble will be a guest presenter in the upcoming workshop, “Building Your Board, Building Your Organization” on Wednesday, July 29, presented by OCCUR and The San Francisco Foundation FAITHS Program in the A Model Built on Faith technical assistance series.
Participants will learn the specifics of what a faiths/nonprofit board must know and do to avoid traps, protect the organization, develop assets and achieve optimal community impact.
“If you closely examine faith or other nonprofit organizations, you’ll discover that the successful, impactful and stable ones have one thing in common – a savvy and committed Board of Directors,” said Tribble.
The workshop is geared to executive directors, board members and staff who are ready to grow their organizations to the next level.
Tribble added, “Given the legal responsibilities of non-profit Boards, it is incumbent upon each to commit to active leadership…such position is too important to be an ostrich in the sand!”
The workshop will be held July 29 at 9 a.m. (check in 8:30 a.m.) at the California Endowment’s Conference Center, 1111 Broadway, 7th floor in Oakland.
