The City of San Leandro announced that it will be hosting a celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month on Saturday, Sept.12, beginning at 2 p.m. in the Main Library’s theater at 300 Estudillo Ave.in downtown San Leandro.
The event will include a festive performance of flamenco dance, song, and guitar playing by the Flamenco Society of San Jose.
“I encourage all San Leandrans to celebrate with their friends and neighbors the rich cultural heritage of our Hispanic community by attending the celebrations on September 12,” said Mayor Pauline Cutter.
Founded by Anita Sheer in 1985, the Flamenco Society of San Jose is now in its 23rd year of operation and continues to bring to the greater San Francisco Bay Area the best in cante (song), baile (dance) and toque (guitar).
