Dr. Cassius M. Plair celebrated his 100th Birthday Aug. 10 with his wife Helen E. Fisher-Plair and a host of family and friends in St. Albans, New York. During the celebration, Dr. Plair also toasted his wife on their 72nd wedding anniversary.
The couple lives in St. Al-bans, N.Y.
The noted pathologist was born in 1915 in Jacksonville, Florida. He retired from the Veterans Administration Hospital in NY in 1980 and continued teaching at New York University Medical School.
Dr. Plair is a graduate of Johnson C. Smith University (Charlotte, NC). He taught school in Marion Alabama where the late Coretta Scott (King) was one of his students.
He earned a master’s degree in chemistry from the University of Iowa and attended Officer Candidate School in the US Army, where he served as a Commissioned Officer.
He graduated from New York University School of Medicine. He has published numerous articles in many professional medical journals.
Dr. Plair surprised the celebrants when he and his 93 year-old wife danced with rhythmic fervor. His niece, Gay Plair Cobb lives in Oakland where she serves as CEO of the Oakland Private Industry Council.
“Having been blessed with good genes and God’s Mercy, he’s an inspiration for us all,” she said
