San Leandro will host a new Murder in the Library production on Friday, Sept. 4 from 7:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. in the Main Library’s heater at 300 Estudillo Ave. in downtown San Leandro.
“I am so pleased to announce that the City will again be hosting our annual mystery play,” noted Mayor Pauline Cutter.
The play takes place in the Royal Enclosure at the Royal Ascot, the most famous horse race meet in England and perhaps the world.
The year is 1954, and England’s cream of society is eagerly awaiting the most prestigious race of the entire meet: the Gold Cup Race with the prize money totaling a staggering $500,000.
The Gold Cup Race famously coincides with “Ladies Day,” a day when women show off their spectacular hats and ensembles.
But Death and Misadventure lurk just outside the confines of this regal frivolity.Who will bite the dust?
Who will stand accused of throwing the race? Who will win the Gold Cup?
Take your seat in the stands, fix your binoculars at the finish line and don’t blink your eyes.
The San Leandro Public Library is partnering with the San Leandro Players once again for the seventh Murder in the Library play.
Admission is free, and there is no ticket registration.
