UC Berkeley Receives $2 Million National Science Foundation Grant

Congresswoman Barbara Lee announced Thursday that UC Berkeley will receive a $2 million grant from the National Science Foundation (NSF) to support researchers engaged in advanced fundamental engineering research.

This funding for the NSF Emerging Frontiers and Multidisciplinary Activities program will support project research that has the potential to improve high-speed data communications through physics and engineering.

The project will also support UC Berkeley’s recruitment and training efforts of underrepresented students, especially students of color and women, in the fields of science and engineering.

“This funding will not only support cutting edge scientific research but will ensure all students, especially women and students of color, are prepared with the education and skills needed to compete in the 21st century workforce,” said Congresswoman Lee.
