Thousands of poets, actors, and artists from the U.S., China, India, Europe and many other countries will be performing pieces on peace, sustainability and social justice as part of the 100K Poets for Change global event, Saturday, Sept. 26.
In Oakland, Cassandra Lopez will be contributing to the event with her documentary, “We Tell Our Stories, which “chronicles the real-life experiences of grassroots leaders and local agents of change in Oakland who are committed to continuing the legacies of President Nelson Mandela and Dr. King by addressing the struggles for social justice and equality.”
The 100K poets and artists event will be broadcast via live stream at the Niebyl Proctor Library at 6501 Telegraph Ave. in Oakland at at 6 p.m. The event, sponsored by Peoples Word, will cost $5 at the door, and light refreshments will be provided.
