The City of Hayward has announced that it seeking five new mural art projects for this fiscal year.
The Mural Art Program is partnering with local artists to foster: civic pride, cultural diversity, cultural enrichment and community identity through inspirational artwork.
This project is open to all experienced Bay Area professional artists. Selected artists must provide proof of general liability insurance coverage.
To apply, artists must submit an application or have an application on file. Applications should include a current resume highlighting past art installation projects and one reference who can speak to the past art installation and qualifications.
A maximum of four original art works may be submitted. Artwork must be in color, and clipart or photos will not be accepted.
Draft renderings will not be returned.
Project funding shall include design(s), artwork, basic wall preparation and minimum two applications of anti-graffiti coating. The mural completion date is June 2016.
The deadline for submissions is Oct. 15. Selected artists will be notified by Dec. 7.
Projects include: utility boxes (8), $4,000 funding; Winton sound wall, $56,000 funding; John Muir Elementary (cradle to career), $10,000 funding; BART underpass, $21,000 funding; and utility box (helicopter aviation), $500 funding.
