Students at Bella Vista Elementary School in Oakland had a chance to get active in a youth football clinic with the Raiders on Monday, Oct. 19 at the 17th annual NFL/United Way Hometown Huddle.
Oakland Raiders Pro Bowl fullback Marcel Reece was joined by teammates Justin Ellis, Jimmy Hall, DJ Hayden, Taiwan Jones and J’Marcus Webb as well as representatives from the United Way of the Bay Area and volunteers from UPS at the event.
Reece spoke to students about the importance of staying healthy and active, sharing his own stories of preparing a healthy life. He and his teammates then led students in the Raiders youth football clinic.
Studies show that physical activity can make kids more successful in school and lead to better growth during vital development stages in life.
This national effort, part of the NFL’s PLAY 60 initiative, raises awareness on youth health and encourages students to maintain a healthy lifestyle by exercising 60 minutes a day.
