Dorothy Johnson-Speight (right), the National Director of Mothers in Charge, spoke to the congregation of St. Columba Church in Berkeley at the church’s Saints Day Service on Nov. 1. Mothers in Charge is a national anti-violence organization of mothers who have lost sons, daughters and loved ones to violence.
There is a San Francisco chapter of the organization, and mothers are working to expand the organization in the Bay Area. For more information, go to www.mothersincharge.org.
Johnson-Speight is studying for her doctorate at the Fielding Graduate University and has been honored as a Soros Justice Fellow.
