Breaking Bars, Building Bridges: Justice Reinvestment Town Hall


The Justice Reinvestment Coalition of Alameda County will host a town hall summit Saturday, Feb. 20, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the West Oakland Youth Center


Community members are invited to share concerns and envision what justice reinvestment shifting dollars from the prison and jails system to social services can mean for our communities.


Following the town hall, there will be a resource fair providing legal counseling to erase felonies under Proposition 47, immigration lawyers to answer questions about DAPA/DACA, DMV vouchers, veterans services, MediCal and EBT enrollment, job training consultation, and information on substance abuse


The Justice Reinvestment Coalition includes Ella Baker Center for Human Rights, East Bay Community Law Center, Communities United for Restorative Youth Justice (CURYJ), Urban Peace Movement, Bay Area Black Workers Center, Oakland Community Organizations, Oakland Rising, People United for a Better Life in Oakland, Urban Strategies Council, Causa Justa: Just Cause.
